Slideswitch || TinkerCAD Circuits Input Component

A switch with two positions: open or closed.

Description:

This device is a toggle switch with two positions.

Slideswitch

How It Works:

A toggle switch contains metal contacts that electrically join when the slider is moved, allowing electrical current to flow.

Connect It:

This device has three wire leads. Connect the Common pin in the middle to your device. Power and Ground are connected to Terminals 1 and 2; the order determines which direction is ON and which is OFF.

 How It Is Used:

Click the device during simulation to change the switch position.

 More About Slideswitch:

To add a Slideswitch in Tinkercad, search for "Slideswitch" in the component library, drag it onto your breadboard, and connect its terminals with wires to other components in your circuit. You can then click on the Slideswitch to set its name for easy identification.

Slideswitches are commonly used in electronic devices for controlling circuits by physically sliding a lever to open or close connections. There are several types of slideswitches, including single-pole single-throw (SPST), single-pole double-throw (SPDT), and double-pole double-throw (DPDT), each having different configurations for controlling one or more circuits. The key specifications of a slideswitch include its working voltage, which typically ranges from 12V to 24V depending on the application, and the current rating, which generally falls between 0.5A and 2A. The mechanical life of these switches usually spans over 10,000 to 50,000 operations, and the contact resistance is typically measured in milliohms, often ranging from 10mΩ to 100mΩ. The switches are also rated for operating temperature typically from -20°C to +85°C, ensuring they function in various environments. Additionally, insulation resistance can be specified up to 100MΩ at 500V DC to prevent leakage currents. The measured units for these parameters are volts (V), amperes (A), ohms (Ω), and temperature (°C).
